Comicstaan Season 2 Release Date, Cast, judges & Trailer

Amazon Prime Video launched the Comicstaan Season 2 on July 12, 2019. It is the stand-up comedy reality contest series that comprises comedians such as Kenny Sebastian, Kanan Gill, Kaneez Surka, Biswa Kalyan Rath, and Zakir Khan as mentors and judges. Neeti Palta and Sumukhi Suresh will also serve in that ability on the second season of Comicstaan, according to IMDb data, which also claims that Urooj Ashfaq and Abish Mathew will be the hosts. Ashfaq substitutes Suresh in the role, who was a host on the season 1 of Comicstaan.

The season 2 for Comicstaan will work for a sum of 8 episodes, with the 7 judges utilizing one episode each to educate the contestants in anecdotal, observational, topical, improv, impromptu, sketch, and alternative. The finale will then bring together everyone. That is the same format that was employed for season 1.

Comicstaan Season 2 Judges

  • Tanmay Bhat
  • Kaneez Surka
  • Biswa Kalyan Rath
  • Sapan Verma
  • Naveen Richard
  • Kanan Gill
  • Kenny Sebastian
  • Neeti Palta
  • Sumukhi Suresh
  • Zakir Khan

There is no sign of Naveen Richard and Sapan Verma, who served as mentors and judges on season 1 of Comicstaan. Palta and Suresh appear to be their substitutes, although they were never announced officially, unlike Khan, who was included to the season 2 of Comicstaan series previous August together with the renewal declaration.

If you are speculating why there is no sign of Tanmay Bhat, he was dropped in November by Amazon over #MeToo issues. Bhat was exiled from AIB (All India Bakchod), the sketch comedy team he co-established, over accusations of inaction in October over sexual harassment. AIB has dissolved effectively soon after.

The reality show was a huge success last year for Amazon Prime Video, with the streaming platform stating that it was the most viewed original upon its rollout in India. Mirzapur later stole that title. Earlier in February, Amazon claimed that Comicstaan might be getting a Tamil version, which will also be produced and created by OML (Only Much Louder), the firm that controls the original.

Comicstaan Season 2 Reviews

Director and Head at Amazon Prime Video India for Content, Vijay Subramaniam, claimed, “When we first rolled out the platform in India, we verified comedy as one of the most essential genres for our users and we aimed at offering a solid selection while also making an unscripted disruptive format for them. We think we delivered on this commitment via Comicstaan Season 1. The series, in many aspects, was a game-changer in the manner unscripted comedy content is seen in the country. With its pioneering format, the show got a phenomenal love from users and motivated us to push the limits of creativity more. So here we are, with a new season of this show with a new jury panel, fantastic new talent, and rib-tickling jokes. Our users are in for many surprises with Comicstaan!

Managing Partner for OML, Dhruv Sheth, claimed, “Our long standing partnership with Amazon Prime Video carries on to become stronger via successful rollout of great original and new content.”

Having said this, users are in a treat with the new season for Comicstaan.
