The Verdict State Vs Nanavati Review
The Verdict State vs Nanavati by Alt Balaji has all the elements required for a crime thriller already taking into consideration that it is a revision of one of the most extraordinary crime cases the mankind has ever known.
The case of a Naval Commander killing his wife’s lover in 1959 in a fit of anger has encouraged more than one silver screen version (not essentially official) earlier. This comprises from Yeh Rastey Hain Pyar Ke featuring Sunil Dutt and Leena Naidu, which bore similarities to the case, the 1973 crime drama by Gulzar featuring Lily Chakravarty, Vinod Khanna, and Om Shivpuri, to Rustom, the 2016 movie by Akshay Kumar that also had Esha Gupta and Ileana D’souza. In fact, Akshay got the National Award for his acting skills and importantly the series will have to face evaluations from the 2016 blockbuster movie.
The Verdict State vs Nanavati consists of a stellar cast including Elli Avrram, Manav Kaul, Angad Bedi, Saurabh Shukla, Kubbra Sait, Sumeet Vyas, Soni Razdan, Makarand Deshpande, Swanand Kirkire, Viraf Patel, and Pooja Gor.
The series follows the court case in 1959, where a Naval Commander, Commander Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati, was attempted for the murder of his wife’s lover, Prem Ahuja.
“Naval Commander Nanavati comes back home to know of the involvement of his wife with Prem Ahuja. In a fit of anger, he kills him, which sparks a countrywide debate of honor against revenge killing. Media, society, and politics get separated by opinions. It turns into a case that separated the nation,” claims the summary of the series.
The trailer offers a glance into 1959 Bombay, its myriad colors, nightlife, and everything else. Once the period drama is set, the story approaches to the courtroom where Angad Bedi (the lawyer) addresses the lady in the witness box asking Mrs. Nanavati about her loyalty against her husband. He further asks if she was sleeping with other men and how many times did she sleep with Prem Ahuja. At the end of the sequence of questions, the lady breaks down unable to give an answer instantaneously.
The role of Sylvia is played by Elli Avrram who emotes with her body language and eyes as without any dialogue, she is capable of expressing nervousness, remorse, and vulnerability. The trailer then shows us the steamy affair between Prem Ahuja (Viraf Patel) and Nanavati’s wife Sylvia and the succeeding murder of the lover. Elli Avrram, the Swedish-Greek beauty, plays the major role in the series and her casting appears to be ideal. Nanavati is played by Manav Kaul while Viraf Patel depicts Prem Ahuja. Angad Bedi and Sumeet Vyas will play lawyers Karl Khandalavala and Ram Jethmalani respectively.

Since people have seen Rustom it is obvious that viewers will compare the webs series with the movie. But seeing the trailer, one thing is clear that the series will get a huge fan base based on the story and the strong cast.
